The Clermont Lounge Makes Wikipedia!!

Clermont Lounge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Clermont Lounge is Atlanta's first and longest continually-operating strip club, opened in 1965. Located in the basement of the Clermont Motor Hotel at 789 Ponce De Leon Avenue, the Clermont has survived multiple attempts at being closed by the Atlanta city government, and has established a nationwide reputation for its kitschy atmosphere and unusual dancers. The Clermont has been featured on an episode of Insomniac with Dave Attell, and celebrities including Marilyn Manson and Kid Rock have been known to visit the Clermont when in Atlanta. Visitors to the Clermont usually alternate between a few handfuls of regulars and large numbers of college students, newcomers to town, and tourists lured in by tales of the Clermont's myriad charms.

The Clermont does not serve food or draft beer. The single stripper's stage is located in the middle of a circular bar, and the dancers choose their own songs on the in-house jukebox, as the club normally does not have an actual DJ. The Clermont is perhaps best-known for featuring dancers who do not meet the traditional physical standards for strippers, the most famous of which is Blondie, notable for her ability to completely flatten empty beer cans between her breasts.

Am I alone in thinking Blondie should be the new "face" of Atlanta's recycling program?

It's not the heat it's the humidity...

Apparently someone forgot to watch the weather channel before leaving the house this morning (and they also lack sweat glands and/or are cold-blooded). This person was a bit over-dressed for today's 78 degree weather. Even my "get my shawl" granny was hot today!

Eat Your Heart Out Arnold's

Here is one of two great pics that were submitted by readers this week.

They pay homage to a couple of those few "50's diner-ish" joints that still exist in the Atlanta area (and just so happen to be on our beloved Ponce de Leon Ave). Night shots really make these metal and neon shrines to fried and frozen foods stand out in all their glory, don't you think?

I'm sure the Big Bopper would approve...
even with the whole exumed body and autopsy thing this week...

The Early Bird Catches the Worm!

I woke up a little early this morning and cruised over to the Cactus Car Wash to give the wheels a little pamperin'...
saved a couple of bucks and still didn't miss a minute of news or 'net (thanks to their comfy cozy waiting area, complete with fireplace...mmmm...cozy). And if you want to tune out for a little mindless zen, even as an adult, its fun to just sit and watch the car "go through the wash" via the plate glass windows.

If you haven't been to the Cactus on Ponce yet, and your car needs some TLC, head on over and check it out!
