Raymond's World Famous Boiled Peanuts

Here's a great shot of the Raymond's World Famous Boiled Peanuts fruit stand on Ponce (and Moreland) submitted by ISIOP friend, Dennis W. You can find other great pics from Dennis on his Flickr site.

Mmmm...boiled peanuts, brings me back to a simpler time...and begs the question: "Do you eat the shell of a boiled peanut or not?"

I gotta say, you most definitely do not eat the shell! It'd be like eating an orange peel.

Yeah, I second that... who the hell eats the shell.

I think it's because a lot of people eat the shells of salted, roasted peanuts at the ballpark.

But...boiled ones? No way.

My granddaddy used to boil them in beer. Yum.

Great picture! I wonder when it was taken, and is that place still there? I have never heard of anyone eating the peanut shells, talk about fiber! Boiled in beer? Very interesting...

Saw you at the carnival, just checking it out.

Eat the shell? No. But sucking all of the salt out of it before opening and extracting the peanuts inside? Oh, you better believe it.
