Like Anyone Actually Uses a Crosswalk on Ponce

Am I the only person who thinks these stupid signs are a waste of taxpayer money AND cause MORE of a hazard to pedestrians and drivers? Let's see some stats on lives saved, Shirley.

You think Ponce is bad? Drive up to Roswell rd around windsor parkway.

Every Tom, Dick and Raul just crosses in the center turning lane.

These things are a complete waste. Most fools see the little stop sign, and think it means STOP NOW. The don't get that it means "stop when person crossing." So, we end up with compelte road hazards, like cars slamming on brakes in the middle of the road. And, uh, besides, Atlanta ain't a pedestrian town. Just accept that, and cross where you should. We have cross walks and know what they mean. Duh.

I completely agree that these signs make it more dangerous for pedestrians to cross the street. Most pedestrians just go ahead and cross the street in front of traffic assuming drivers can see them, which is not always the case, especially when there are four lanes of traffic. I've seen too many a close call.

Fortunately my gas slurping SUV is equipped with a grill guard that makes it impervious to these signs. I have personally flattened several.
